- Graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (B.S. in education), 1988.
- Married Bruce Fischer, Feb. 5, 1972;
- Three children: Adam Carl, Morgan Thomas and Luke Christopher.

State Legislature
She was elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2008 to represent the 43rd Nebraska legislative district. She
is currently the Chairperson for the Transportation and
Telecommunications committee and is also a member of the Natural
Resources committee.
